The Outreach House received a $15,593 grant through DuPage Foundation’s Community Impact grant program to help support financial assistance for guests in need, to install blinds in the food pantry windows for temperature control, and to purchase shelving for food and diaper storage.
DuPage Foundation awarded nearly $940,000 to 52 DuPage County not-for-profit organizations. Thanks to additional donations from DuPage Foundation’s donors and donor-advisors, the Foundation was able to grant $480,000 above its regular Community Impact grant budget.
The Mission Sustainability Initiative at Forefront helped two small nonprofits serving the same clients merge to benefit their clients. Through their co-location, Outreach House has dramatically increased both quality of service and the number of clients they reach. Read the full article here.

On Friday, Oct 20, The Outreach House was recognized as a finalist for the Axelson Excellent Emerging Organization Award.
The Excellent Emerging Organization Award was created to honor up-and-coming organizations whose strength is apparent—even in the early stages of existence. This award recognizes organizations that display sound management practices as well as innovation in programming and leadership capabilities. While emerging organizations may not have all the policies and procedures in place, finalists have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and learning.
Eligible organizations are selected on an annual basis by an award committee comprised of Chicago-area nonprofit and community leaders. The winning organization, along with finalists, were recognized at the Axelson Center’s annual conference.
The Outreach House has been named a “2023 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading website for community recommendations of charities and nonprofits.
The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that we received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients. One of our vocational group partners said the following about their experience with us: “My role in The Outreach House is bringing local high school students in to experience the working world and receive job training. While there, the students feel welcome, valued, and a part of their mission. There are many moving parts at The Outreach House, but one would never know it as Catherine keeps it running very smoothly. There is a very positive vibe and warm atmosphere every time we walk in. We feel grateful to be a part of this community:)”
“The Outreach House is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with The Outreach House.”
GreatNonprofits is the largest donation website for nonprofits and where people share stories about their personal experiences on more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.

LOMBARD September 26, 2023 -- The Outreach House has been selected for the 2023 Best of Lombard Award in the Social Services Organization category by the Lombard Award Program.
Each year, the Lombard Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Lombard area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2023 Lombard Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Lombard Award Program and data provided by third parties.
