Healthy food for our neighbors in need
Food insecurity can undermine the wellbeing of individuals and families. The Food Pantry provides food to anyone in York Township in need of nutritious food. Guests choose the items they need from a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables; dairy, meat, fish and eggs; bakery and deli items; and nutritious non-perishables. A grocery store setting welcomes guests to select what they need and prefer at no charge.
We get the majority of our food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, where we can stretch each $1 donated to acquire $8 worth of food. We receive fresh milk and eggs weekly through a partnership the food bank has with Prairie Farms dairy. We also pick up food donations of fresh produce, dairy, deli and bakery items from eight local grocery retailers.

"[The food pantry] has been one of the most significant changes I’ve ever encountered. I was eating ramen soup before I came here – getting free food wherever I could, and now I can actually eat healthy. It helps me to live a healthy lifestyle."
